| | For Dave Thompson, owner of TD Home Loans in Modesto, integrity is everything. Rather than simply putting clients into any loan he can find, he believes that it is his job is to put them in the right loan for their individual situation.
"When people come to me, they'll get honest advice. I won't talk them into a loan. There always has to be a real benefit for them," Thompson says. "My job is to lend money, but I also feel that it's to give the same advice I would give to my family."
Thompson is an active member of the Modesto 500 Lions Club and will be the club's president next year. He has been in the mortgage loan business for more than a decade offering fast professional mortgage lending. "I like to say we're in the customer service business. We're a local company serving local lending needs," Thompson says. "Many of our clients' faces are familiar, as we have many repeat clients."
Thompson opened TD Home Loans in January, 2003 and the nine-member team is getting ready to celebrate the company's five-year anniversary. | |

| | Thompson and his team credit the company's longevity and success to a combination of quality people and excellent knowledge of the industry and available loan programs. "Everyone we meet is treated with dignity and respect," says General Manager Starla Houston, who has 20 years experience in human resources and training and has worked for Transamerica Corporation and Aegis Mortgage Corporation. "We look to establish a long-term relationships, not just a quick fix."
Clients agree. Retired Modesto resident Jack Lewis doesn't have any plans to refinance again – but he says that if he ever did need another loan, he wouldn't hesitate to call Thompson again, and he would readily refer any of his friends to him. When Lewis and his wife wanted to do some remodelling on their home, they contacted Thompson, who was able to get them an excellent fixed rate. "He was real good," Lewis says. "It was because of his effort and work that we were able to get the rate we did." | |

The first time it was to help them purchase their current home. On another occasion, it was to get them out of a negative amortization loan that they had taken under pressure from a Southern California telemarketer. "I was on my way to losing my house," says Peter H. So, he contacted Thompson.

| | For Thompson, negative amortization loans were something he only dealt with two times in the last five years. And, in both cases, it was after lengthy discussions with his clients who fully understood what was involved. "I made sure that it was the best thing for them," Thompson says. "Overall, for the average consumer, it was not the best opion, and we didn't offer them."
TD Home Loans is DRE-licensed and has the ability to lend in 37 states. Whenever possible, Thompson and his team try to offer a 14-day solution to their clients. In addition to purchase and refinance loans, TD Home Loans also offers construction and commercial
loans. Thompson has seen such growth in the commercial sector that he is focusing on opening a commercial branch in the near term. "There is a real need for expertise and expansion in the commercial arena," he says. | |

| | A new product that Thompson and his team are offering is the Home Ownership Accelerator program, which allows people to pay off their home faster without changing their spending habits. On average, a 30-year mortgage can be paid off in 11 years through the program, according to Thompson. "We're trying to focus on helping people pay off their mortgages not just adding to them. This loan program could revolutionize the way we pay for our homes," he says.
Thompson is always looking to add new loan officers to his team of professionals. "I'm looking for people who are motivated and willing to work hard for their clients," Thompson says. In return, loan officers receive excellent compensation and ongoing training.
